Description
Survodutide
Survodutide works by activating both GLP-1 receptors, which help regulate appetite and blood sugar, and glucagon receptors, which boost energy expenditure and reduce liver fat. This dual action provides additional metabolic advantages compared to medications that target only GLP-1.
Also known as: BI 456906
It is an investigational dual agonist of GLP-1 and glucagon receptors being studied for the treatment of obesity and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). It has received FDA Breakthrough Therapy Designation for MASH with fibrosis.
•Current status: Ongoing Phase 3 clinical trials. Supported by evidence from human studies.
•Standard dosage: Community data are limited; dosing details primarily come from clinical research protocols. Administered via weekly subcutaneous injection.
•Primary research focus: Weight reduction, liver fat reduction (particularly in NASH), and overall metabolic improvement.
