Description
Leuprolide (Leuprorelin)
Also known as: Lupron, Eligard, Leuprorelin
Leuprolide first triggers and then reduces the release of gonadotropins by continuously activating GnRH receptors. Following an initial surge in hormone levels, it results in decreased testosterone and estrogen production. This produces a temporary, reversible state similar to surgical castration.
Approved by the FDA for several uses.
